Great dive bar. In town for the night on the way back home after a family trip to Orlando. Spent the day in downtown St. Augustine and didn't want fight the parking nightmare again. Took a chance on Johnny's and glad we did. Perfect Dive Bar atmosphere with an awesomely eclectic menu. I had a tasty Philly cheesesteak, my son had a burger and husband had the grilled shrimp fried rice. Everyone was happy. Our server was friendly, professional and attentive.

We were directed here via the travelodge we were staying at around the corner. The curb appeal might leave one second guessing; but like most instances, you cannot judge a book by its cover. Jordan who was the server/bartender greeted us and was very welcoming. We went around dinner time, but we had breakfast as they serve breakfast all day. They have a $4.99 full breakfast that includes 2eggs, bacon or sausage, choice of toast, home fries or grits. Everything we had was delicious and our plates were empty! That does not happen much. I believe that they truly care about the food they put out. It was plated nicely, not greasy, and cooked perfect to order. It's hard to have a great breakfast in st.augustine for a reasonable price, but Johnny's is on the money!

Don't wait in line at Denny's or IHOP. Go where the ST Augustine locals go. If you like good breakfast basics at reasonable prices, this is the place for you. My in-laws suggested we have breakfast at Johnny's. They live in Ponte Vedra Beach so when in Rome right? When you see the outside of Johnny's it looks like it used to be a Chinese or Japanese restaurant. On the inside, it looks like a cross between a sports bar and a dive bar. Don't let the appearance fool you. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and Eggs (minus eggs, I don't like eggs). The steak comes with sausage gravy on it. The sausage gravy was the real deal. It was homemade with lots of chunks of sausage, not that slop that comes out of a can or package. If you are a biscuits and gravy lover this gravy is the best I have ever had outside of my grandmother's. One small caveat, the biscuits need some work. I am fairly certain the biscuits are the frozen kind that you bake without thawing. Note to Johnny: get somebody to teach your guy how to make homemade butter-milk biscuits and you have the ultimate combination. The country fried steak was tender and fried crisp. The home fries were also very good. They had finely sliced green peppers and onions in them. Top it with the house made datil pepper sauce and you've got a real winner. This breakfast was so good, I went back the next morning and ate the exact same thing. On day one my wife had the Joy Young. It had tons of shrimp, fried rice, onions, mushrooms and other ingredients that at first glance wouldn't make you think breakfast. My wife loved it. And the portion size was enormous. On day two she had the Slam Scramble with bacon. Basically it's an egg scramble that contains mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, shredded jack and cheddar cheese. The eggs were fluffy and light. She loved this one as well. My father-in- law had the Country Fried Steak on day one (which he ate before) and on day two had an english muffin sausage and egg sandwich. Let me tell you, if I ate eggs, that sandwich would make me smile. The egg was piled high and was bright yellow. It looked awesome and they prepared it the way he ordered it. This place is a winner. Don't be afraid of the décor, just go in and have a great breakfast! The lunch menu looks good too, but we didn't eat lunch. I would though.

One of my favorite haunts. The owner is a really great guy and the staff are awesome. Really good food & you can't beat the prices. Been there many many times for breakfast and lunch. You won't find a better value anywhere in this city. Give it a test drive, kick the tires, can't go wrong on this one. My favorite waitress is Candice. Very friendly and just a truly enjoyable young to cater to your needs. Have never tried the night life @ Johnny's but there's always something going on. Check it out and ENJOY.

This is a great breakfast spot me & a buddy happened on. I was apprehensive when we pulled in, the exterior looks more like a low-rent dive. The inside is certainly no frills but is clean and neat. The service was prompt and pleasant. Breakfast included eggs, toast, hash browned potatoes, meat, and a biscuit smothered in a decadent country gravy. Everything was very good, cooked to our specs, and tasted homemade. Don't miss it!

I really enjoyed my meal and the server was great! If it hasn't been featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives- it should be. Don't be confused by the eclectic bar decor! The breakfast was very yummy! The 4.99 breakfast is a steal. There are a lot of onions in the breakfast potatoes so if you don't like onions, caution when ordering. The flavor of the potatoes was amazing.
